OVERVIEW

Managed storage for shared sports and event supplies and equipment.

Design Goals

  • Position adjacent or in the vicinity of sports and event facilities (incl. Training Rooms)
  • Ensure sufficient number/size of lockers to store required sports equipment, stackable chairs/tables, furniture trolleys and AV/audio equipment
  • Provide adequate security for high-value items
  • Take into account the proximity to goods lift, freight elevator, loading dock, and other key access areas



Key storage space types are listed below. Refer to the respective pages for detailed requirements/strategic intent:


*Sports Storage notes:

  • Separate indoor and outdoor storage for sports equipment for both the Indoor and Outdoor Sports Court and Gym space
  • Outdoor Court storage must be weatherproof and accessible from the court

REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS

  • Finishes
    • Ensure robustness to accommodate knocks, specify durable materials on floor and walls

    Walls

    • Use cleanable, durable materials
    • Corner guards: Use in traffic areas with frequent trolley use

    Floors

    • Match the height of adjacent spaces

    Ceilings

    • Consider if some storerooms require additional ceiling height for sports equipment that may require additional height/space

    Outdoor sport storage

    • Weather-resistant materials and surfaces
  • Doors
    • Type: solid door (metal/wood)
    • Size: 36” (91cm) min. width, consider equipment being stored and if wider doorways are necessary
    • Ensure doorway is wide enough and consider double doors for large sized objects and trolleys
  • Casework and Plumbing
    • Ensure lockers are well-ventilated to prevent odor/mold
    • Group similar items and clearly label all lockers
  • Storage

    Sports lockers

    • Install secure locking mechanisms on all lockers
    • Establish communication instructions and protocols for the use and storage of sporting equipment to prevent injuries (implement this through signage/employee training)

    Shoe lockers

    • Shoe lockers may be required for employees to store safety footwear, due to equipment hazards on the Shopfloor (project dependent)
    • Locate adjacent to Shopfloor Entrance 
    • Compact size approx. 11.8"W x 6.3"H x 16.7"D (30cmW x 16cmH x 42.5cmD)
    • Provide bench for user convenience adjacent to lockers
    • Ensure adequate airflow ventilation to lockers and use durable materials
    • Secure locking mechanism - project dependent
  • Acoustics
    • Noise should be dampened between the room and adjacent spaces, but privacy isn’t required
    • Noise criteria (NC): 30-35 dBA
    • Sound transmission class (STC): 45-50 dBA
  • Equipment
    • Implement system for tracking inventory of equipment to ensure upkeep and availability of items (e.g., sign-out sheet, digital inventory management system or managed on-site by Experience / Sports Team)
    • Implement system for storing and retrieving equipment for seamless user experience
  • Electrical

    Outlets

    • Standard wall outlets
    • Convenient outlets for iPad charging station, if applicable

    Lighting

    • Lighting for outdoor sports storage for night-time use
  • Wayfinding
    • See Wayfinding section
    • ID sign with the room type outside the door ("Storage" or relevant local term)
  • Technology
    • OPTIONAL: Where budget allows, use booking technology like the centralized Sport app to communicate information on equipment availability/bookings
  • Safety and Security
    • Room to be lockable
    • (x1) badge reader, programmed with limited employee access
    • (x1) camera at door (project and storage type dependent)
    • (x1) 360° camera for product storage (project and storage type dependent)
