PROGRAMMING

CORPORATE OFFICES

OVERVIEW

The Standard ratios shown here should be used unless there is a business reason to make modifications. Space type descriptions are at the bottom of this page. Visit the Space Types section for design specifications.

The Programming Calculator Sheet is used for project planning at Corporate sites. The sheet will incorporate multiple Team Profiles for space estimates and allows the Nike project teams to validate business requirements and input specific needs for specialty spaces, storage, etc. It can be used in two ways:

  • Input sf/sm and team profiles

The sheet will provide capacity, team specialty space recommendation, and space type program

  • Input current headcount (HC) and team profiles

The sheet will provide sf/sm, capacity, team specialty space recommendation, and space type program

PROGRAMMING RATIOS

If the headcount is lower than the number provided, include one of the space type.

In addition to the Standard spaces, consider local code requirements, circulation, team specialty spaces and building services and support spaces.

A single user Everybody restroom with shower is in the Guardrails and Standard space sf/sm allocation. If the building restrooms are in Nike's space and construction scope, additional funding and space is required. See Restrooms.

MVP Guidelines are for ABW projects that have less than a full renovation scope. This provides minimum viable product direction for programming and performance.

Space Type Descriptions

  • Standard Spaces

    Primary Entrance

The main public entrance to a building for employees and visitors that is clearly recognizable from the street and/or parking area and connects to a foyer, lobby or reception area. There may be more than one primary entrance.

    Lobby

The point of check-in and arrival to the Nike space, typically with a welcome desk. In a multi-tenant building, we may utilize a shared lobby and/or build our own.

    Hub

This is the vibrant social center; a destination where you run into colleagues, get coffee, eat lunch and cross paths with teammates. Casual meetings or interviews are planned for the hub, often with outside guests, welcoming them into a Nike experience without bringing them into higher security areas.

    Circulation

This is how people move through the building. It includes paths and corridors, interior doors, stairs, ramps, elevators. Wayfinding is a key component in circulation spaces, providing a sense of orientation, offering visual landmarks and clear signage.

    Restrooms

Gendered restrooms have a male or female designation. “Everybody Restrooms” do not have a male or female designation. They can be single-user rooms or multi-stall rooms with added privacy. All new restrooms should be accessible.

    Mothers' Room

A dedicated private, enclosed space for new mothers to pump breast milk, clean supplies, and refrigerate breast milk. This happens during the work day, so babies are rarely in the rooms. Buildings with less than 75 people may have a wellness room, which can be used for both lactation and wellness purposes, otherwise, this should be its’ own space.

    Wellness Room

A private, enclosed space to support rest and recovery for physical or mental health. The design allows people to sit, stretch, pray, meditate or lay on the floor or sofa.

    Open Workspace

Individual desks in a team environment. May include lockers or personal storage.

    Open Huddle

Collaboration spaces within the open workspace. The configurations will vary

to accommodate different group sizes, AV needs, furniture types, and character.

    Conference Room

Meeting space that can be reserved. These are designed for group work and collaboration with a presentation screen or video conference system.

    • Small = 3- 4
    • Med = Seats 5-7
    • Large = Seats 8-14
    • XL = Seats 15-24

    Focus Room

A non-bookable room for one to two people. An escape from the high-energy open workspace. These small, first-come, first-serve rooms provide an enclosed space for solo heads-down work, a private meeting, video call, or in-person collaboration between two people.

    Phone Room / Phone Booth

A small, enclosed space for phone calls or video conferencing. Short-term and non-bookable. These may be a room or a modular booth. A work surface is optional. Landline phones are not installed.

    Copy Mail / Package

An area for a printer and associated supplies. This can be off a circulation path in the open workspace, in a partially enclosed room, or inside the mail/package room.

    Mail / Package

An enclosed room for mail and package delivery and pick-up. The size may need to be larger for high-volume sites. Include a badge reader if the room is outside the secure perimeter.

    Fuel Station

The Fuel Station is an employee break room. Employees can store and heat food that they bring, and get water, coffee, and tea. A Fuel station may include booths or seating. The location can be in a Hub or in the Office.

    Library

A heads-down work zone: quiet with no interruptions or phone calls. This is not typically a reference library with books or materials.

    On-Site Off-Site

Set the mood for creative thinking. This is a space for team Offsites, but with the convenience and efficiency of not leaving Nike. The hospitality atmosphere, with elevated brand and finishes, is distinct and feels separated from the rest of the building. There is space to move around and casual seating, making it perfect for long workshops for team building, planning, and presentations. The rooms are typically booked for full or half days. On a campus, each room is unique, making it a draw for teams to move between buildings for a different experience.

  • Building Service and Support

Facilities for sport, nutrition, events, or building operations. These spaces should be coordinated with the GPS service team. In a campus setting, they need to be balanced between buildings for an appropriate level of coverage and subsidy.

    Barista or Coffee Shop

A coffee bar that is serviced by a barista where specialty drinks and light food options are served. Typically combined with a Hub or Café.

    Café or Restaurant

A larger self-serve cafeteria or sit down restaurant with table service, with a dedicated kitchen to prepare food.

    Sport

Gym space and locker rooms. May include fitness facilities, event space, recovery areas.

    Food Concept

A staffed location that serves food, but doesn’t have a full kitchen to prepare food. Typically combined with a Hub or Café.

    Flex Room

An adaptable space that can shift based on evolving needs. It can support a range of activities including collaboration, storage, or a short-term bookable project / scrum room.

    On-Site Off-Site

Flexible, comfortable event space that groups can use for team building, collaboration, etc. They are typically bookable for full days through meetings and events. Naming, storytelling and connection to the brand are important to the experience and making each space unique. They should include hybrid presentation AV and accommodate catering.

    Self-Serve Market

This is where employees can help themselves to pre-packaged food and drinks. Depending on the site, food may be purchased or provided by the team. Typically combined with a Hub or Fuel Station.

    Miscellaneous

Mechanical rooms, etc. that support the function of the building.

  • Team Specialty Space

Unique spaces to support a specific business need. May require a build-out. Includes spaces such as rig/merch rooms, material library, lab, athlete testing, high density storage, recording studio, digital command center, maker space, etc.
