Design Goals

  • When selecting the mail and package room placement consider the delivery path
  • In a secure perimeter 
  • In public space - in an enclosed room, with a badge reader
  • Should be centrally located and accessible by multiple teams
  • Copiers and printing supplies can be distributed in a secure perimeter near open workspaces or can be included with mail and/or package or separate

REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS

  • Clearances
    • Provide 32” (81cm) min. clearance at all door openings 
    • Provide 60” x 60” (152cm x 152cm) clear floor space on each side of all swing doors
  • Finishes

    Walls

    • Wall type 3: Gypsum wall below deck 
    • Use standard wall types or approved alternate that meets acoustic requirements
    • Paint with a rubber base (or equivalent)

    Ceiling 

    • Acoustic ceiling tile (or equivalent). Proportional to footprint, 9’ (2.8m) min. height
  • Furnishings

    Accessories

    • (x2) Plastic containers for batteries and e-waste
    • (x1) Recycling bin
    • (x1) Trash bin
    • (x1) Secure shred bin
    • (x1) 36" x 60" (91cm x 152cm) min. bulletin board
    • Paper and printer supplies
  • Casework and Plumbing

    Counter

    • Laminate with exposed plywood or laminate cabinets
    • Counter space for organizing papers and supplies with cabinets or open shelves to hold printer supplies, mail slots (as required by local service team)

    Shelves

    • Accessible - placement of products should be reachable for a person using a wheelchair, with a reach range between 15”-48” (38cm-122cm) height
    • Highest and lowest shelves are not accessible and should be used for surplus materials
  • Equipment
    • (x1) min. Printer with controls within accessible height
    • (x3) Interoffice mail bins
    • Office supplies, lost & found, delivery lockers, shipping supplies (FedEx, UPS, etc.)
    • Machine controls should be located between 18”-44” (46cm-110cm)
    • Consult local service team for requirements, including volume of package delivery, printers, plotters, and office supplies
  • Electrical

    Outlets

    • (x2) 20amps behind each printer, including (x1) min. at the counter
    • Data: (x1) port behind each printer

    Lighting

    • Lighting and other controls should be mounted between 44”-48” (110cm-122cm)
    • Range: 20-30 FC (215-323 LUX). Provide a higher range for task lighting at counter and machines, with a lower range for general lighting
    • Controls: Daylight harvesting, or on/off with a sensor 
  • Wayfinding
    • See Wayfinding section
    • ID sign with ‘Copy/Mail’ outside the door
    • Amenity Icon Tab only if the location is not obvious along the circulation path at a distance
