Sign Placement

The specification sheets list each location where the signs should be installed. General guidance:

  • Entrance signs mark the arrival to the site and include a name to distinguish multiple entrances.
  • Vehicle drivers: Directional signs are at decision points on primary routes; parking zones and garages are on maps and ID signs.
  • Pedestrians: A map provides orientation at arrival points (drop off locations, near parking etc.). Support decision points with directional signs at simple intersections and maps at gathering points and complex intersections.
  • Information signs at art installations can make them more memorable as landmarks.
  • If the primary route is not accessible, use directional signs to guide users to accessible routes.
  • Confirm the orientation of signs with arrows to ensure they are pointing in the correct direction.
  • Ensure the signs are visible and not obscured by plants, bikes, trash bins, vehicles, etc.
