Water Fixtures


  • Perform an indoor water reduction calculation using the LEED v4 Indoor Water Use Reduction Calculator with the proposed or existing plumbing fixture flow/flush rates to confirm that at least a 30% water use reduction is being achieved.
  • The following flow/flush rates are recommended:
  • 0.35 gpm (1.33 lpm) lavatories
  • 1.5 gpm (5.67 lpm) showers
  • 1.1 gpf (4.16 lpm) toilets/water closets
  • 0.128 gpf (0.48 lpm) urinals
  • Ensure that all applicable fixtures* are WaterSense labeled.


NOTE: Water fixture selection criteria should be carefully reviewed against local water regulations.

Water Metering


  • Use existing tenant-level water meters where possible.
  • Connect with your Sustainability Director to report monthly water use data to GPS for tracking towards targets.
