Reduce pre and post consumer food waste and increase landfill diversion
NIKE AIMS FOR A 20% REDUCTION IN HQS DISPOSED WASTE PER EMPLOYEE
All Nike locations should comply with LEED prerequisite Storage and Collection of Recyclables to minimize waste generation, promote efficient recycling, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Recommendations for waste reduction and recycling are as follows:
- Provide recycling and compost receptacles wherever there are trash receptacles and have them collected at least weekly.
- Have in place storage locations for the following recyclable materials:
- Mixed paper
- Corrugated cardboard
- Glass
- Plastics
- Metals
- Batteries
- E-Waste

NIKE AIMS FOR 100% WASTE DIVERTED FROM LANDFILL AND IN HQS AND 100% HQS WASTE RECYCLED OR COMPOSTED
All Nike locations should work with appropriate partners on signage and color coding for easy identification and segregation of waste materials, which leads to more efficient recycling processes.
- Color Coding Signage: Specific use of icons, colors and images for people to make quicker decisions and avoid placing items in the wrong bin.
